Italy, Tuscany: A famed white wine from the predominantly red region. The beautiful town of San Gimignano is a high-rise medieval town. This came about when rivalry between rich families took a new twist when each tried to out do each other by building the tallest tower. This is a massive tourist attraction with the wines being sold easily so there was a dip in quality. Recent investment and some good wine makers are starting to restore the wines status. Made from Vernaccia grape the wines are slightly scented with citrus fruit and nutty character. Some take well to oak and are given the Riserva rating, giving the wine a vanilla note.
