Verdelho

Grape
White. This Portugese grape is associated with a sweeter style of Madiera. This wine must now contain at least 85% of the said grape. It is also ground in the Duoro Valley were it is used for white port. It can produces a high sugar content when grown in warmer climates. In Australia, especially the Hunter Valley it is grown and vinified in the same way as Semillon which gives the wine flavours of lime, honeysuckle and an oily texture like in Semillon with age.
