Red, Italy: A red grape variety planted in much of central Italy. It is a late ripening grape. It is extensively planted in the Abruzzo with Montepulciano d`Abruzzo being one of its classic wines. They are enjoying popularity at the moment for young easy drinking, light to medium bodied fruity red wines. These can be good value for money. In the Marche region it is blended with Sangiovese to produce Rosso Conero. The best can age.
