Maipo

Region
Maipo is located to the south of Santiago and is the warmest of the sub regions that make up the famed Central Valley. It is close to the capital and was one of the first areas to be cultivated for vines. Cuttings arrived from Bordeaux in the mid 19th century before phylloxera so the region remains free of the bug and many of the vines are ungrafted. Maipo produces some very fine Cabernet Sauvignon.
