Region
Lombardy was responsible for Italy's post Second World War resurgence and is responsible for the wealth standard of living around Milan. It's total wine output is greater than Friuli, Umbria or Marche.
Classic Regions: Valtellina, Oltrepo Pavese and Franciacorta
Valtellina is the northern most frontier for Chiavanesca (the local name for Nebbiolo), Franciacorta is famed for its quality sparkling wines and Oltrepo is the largest volume area specialising in Barbera.
