Hawkes Bay

Region
Is a region in the North East of New Zealand. Missionaries in the mid 19th century first planted vines high and Hawkes Bay enjoys a warm maritime climate, protected by the Ruahine and Kaweka mountains behind it. It is become well recognised as the premier district for full bodied red wine styles and Bay is the second largest wine producing region of New Zealand.
