Grenache
GrapeRed Grape that has its home in Southern Rhone. It produces wines that are lightly tannic with sweet red fruit, a full body and high in alcohol. Many Chateauneuf du Papes are 100% Grenache but around Southern Rhone, Provence and the Languedoc it will be blended with Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan and Cinsault to give body. It is also found in many regions throughout Spain.
It’s also in a good amount of Rosé wine with the most famous coming from Lirac and Tavel as well as being used in red vins Doux naturels (sweet fortified wines).
