Franschhoek

Region
A South African ward in the district of Paarl, almost due East of Cape Town. The word means ‘French corner’ and was home to the fist Huguenots. It is suurounded by three mountains; the Groot Drakenstein mountains, the Franschhoek mountains and the Klein Drakenstein and Simonsberg mountains. The water from these mountains help irrigate the vines, in this hot area, with the best potential being found in Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, Shiraz and Chenin Blanc.
