Region: Coteaux du Languedoc, France
Wine: 2002 Syrah Leone, Domaine Peyre Rose
Colour: Red
Grape: Syrah
From one of the region’s top producers and vineyards, owned by Marlene Soria. Almost opaque in colour, this wine is extremely powerful but with a lovely balance. Rich blackberry, blackcurrant, black cherry, a touch of olive, herbs, and a meat/leather finish. This wine is opulent, but a nice acidity balances the power well, with a full body, medium + ripe tannins and a long long finish. This wine could drink now or over the next 10-15 years.
Food Matching: Roast lamb, robust red meats.
