The Wine Library Reviews

Region: Barossa Valley, Australia

Wine: 1998 Stonewell Shiraz, Peter Lehmann

Colour: Red

Grape: 100% Shiraz

Deeper in colour and looking younger than the 99 with a thin garnet rim. Fresh, intense, typical ripe Barossa Shiraz, blackberry and blackcurrant on the nose, with sweets spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper and minerals. On the palate it is dry with, medium + acidity keeping it fresh and balancing those huge flavours and alcohol. Medium + tannin, full bodied, with intense sweet, but not stewed, fruit, red currant, blackberry, vanilla, cedar, chocolate, old and new leather and a long finish.

Food Matching: Robust, hearty dishes.
