The Wine Library Reviews
Region: South Rhone, France
Wine: 2006 Gigondas, Les Esplanines, Cuvee Romaine, Patric Lesec
Colour: Red
Grape: Grenache - Mouvedre blend
This ruby wine from the under valued AOC area of Gigondas, has aromas of dark fruit, such as blackcurrant, sweet spice, cinnamon, a little confected/ sweet fruit, minerals and a touch of a plaster smell (Brett?)! It still has a medium high acidity which helps clean the palate, and balance the fruit / oak flavours. The finish it pretty long as well!
Food Matching: Grilled steaks with thyme, peppered rib-eye steak, or peppered rack of lamb.
