The Wine Library Reviews
Region: South Rhone, France
Wine: 1998 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château Mont-Redon
Colour: Red
Grape: Grenache-Syrah-Mourvedre blend
Ruby core but turning to garnet on the rim. Not a classic Châteauneuf from this age old estate, but more of an entry level offering. This modern wine has sweet cherries and blackberries with a hint of leather on the nose followed by a medium bodied, soft palate. This wine needs to be drunk soon as the structure is not there to carry it much longer.
Food Matching: Peppered bacon, roast leg of lamb, spiced venison steaks with red-cabbage, and other hearty dishes.
