The Wine Library Reviews

Region: Burgundy, France

Wine: 1959 Savigny-les-beaune, Lavieres, Premier Cru, Domaine Bouchard Pere & Fils

Colour: Red

Grape: Pinot Noir

The oldest Burgundy I have ever tasted, its bright tawny ruby and almost see through with decadent aromas of perfumed red fruit, light white spice, dried herbs. On the palate it is kept alive and fresh by a lovely acidity. Delicate, with low fine tannins and a long finish.

Food Matching: On its own, with light starter or white meat dishes.
