Region: Bordeaux, France

Wine: 1934 Chateau Pontet-Canet

Colour: Red

Grape: 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc and 32% Merlot

Wow what a treat. The wine is still going, on the nose there is lovely red fruit, intermingled with mellow white spice, such as white pepper and cinnamon, along with a smoky note, old leather, wet forest floor and a hint of coffee / nut. The wine is only medium bodied, with medium integrated tannin, acidity which still keeps the wine fresh and a long finish. Past its best but still an amazing wine.

Food Matching: Drink on it's on, with a fine white cheese, or with pork.
