The Wine Library Reviews
Region: Bordeaux, France
Wine: 1961 Chateau Rauzan Segla, 2ème Cru Classé
Colour: Red
Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot
A fully developed wine, with black cheery, prune, dates, meaty, almost salami aromas. Dry, still with good acid with flavours of pencil lead, cigar box, smoke, prunes and dark fruit. The finsh goes on and on. Perhaps past its peak.
Food Matching: Rich red meat, lamb, grilled pork chops, venison or duck. Will also partner rich cheese, and smoked food.
