Chile: Casablanca Valley is a ool-climate wine producing region in Chile, 1 hour west of Santiago. Cool ocean breezes and an early morning fog, both coming from the Humbolt current, keeps the temperatures low with midday heat ripening the grapes. Cool climate varieties dominate with Chardonnay occupying three quarters of planting followed by Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and Merlot. These are also a range of altitudes in this area.
