Carmenère
GrapeRed: Was taken to Chile before the phylloxera outbreak in Bordeaux, therefore allowing Chile to remain Phylloxera free. In the early days in Chile is was commonly mistaken for Merlot. Chile has made this its own variaty and has much sucess with single variety wines and blended with Cabernet. The wines are round, high in tannin, dark in colour, with dark fruit character and a hint of menthol.
