Cabernet Franc

Grape
Red: Cabernet Franc is grown mainly in the Loire and Bordeaux regions. The bunches are very small although is not overly fussy where it is grown. It is perfumed, with strawberry and blackberry aromas and flavours. Sometimes underripe Cabernet Franc from the Loire can taste "green". Due to high acidity and tannins the best wines from this grape can age.
Classic areas from the Loire are Bourgueil, Chinon and Saumur-Champigny. Cheval Blanc of Bordeuax fame has large plantings for Cabernet Franc. Other Names: Bouchet and Breton
