Australia

Region
Australia has built a strong reputation for wine reliant on exports. Having dominated the house wine market they have now started to struggle caused by over production and years of drought. AU$ price per litre nose-dived and some wine was sold below cost of production. This has enabled many of the bigger Australian brands to dominate the UK high streets as the market has grown less segmented. There are still some very good, boutique wines made in Australia. Much investment is gong into their premium wines and classic regions have emerged.
